Oil    club    price    comparison

I    have    had    a    number    of    people    ask    how    much    we    save    via    our    buying    group.    This    is    not    an easy    answer    as    the    various    companies’ quotes    have    a    wide    span.    The    highest    I    was    quoted    for    our    total    order    was    51.10ppl    plus    vat.

The    main    comparison    I    make    is    via    the    on    line    fuel companies,    the    following    prices    were    quoted    for    a    1000ltr    delivery    in    November    2014.

Lady    Herries    of    Terregles

Lady    Herries    of    Terregles,    the    14th    holder    of    the     barony,     who     has     died     aged     76,     was     a    well-known     racehorse     trainer     and     the    second     wife     of     one     of     England’s     greatest    cricketers,    Colin    Cowdrey.    She     was     born     Anne     Elizabeth     Fitzalan-Howard     on     June     12     1938,     the     eldest     of     the    four    daughters    of    the    16th    Duke    of    Norfolk.    From     her     earliest     years     she     had     loved    horses,     and     in     1970     she     went     to     live     at    Everingham,     formerly     her     paternal    grandmother’s     house,     in     East     Yorkshire,    where     she     became    Master     of     the    Middleton    Hounds.    On     the    death    of    her    father    in    1975,    she    became    in    her    own    right    Lady    Herries    of    Terregles;     although     eligible     to     sit     in     the    House     of     Lords     (until     its     reform     in     1999),    she    chose    not    to    take    her    seat.    Lady     Herries     was     last     in     Everingham     in    1989     to     celebrate     the     150th anniversary     of    the    Catholic    church    in    the    village.Lady     Herries     of     Terregles,     born     June     12    1938,    died    November    25    2014    This     obituary     can     be     read     in     full     on     the     Telegraph’s

Planning Application

Sam has received a planning application for Allerthorpe Park Golf Club for "Change of use land for the siting of no: 250 lodges and static caravans (for holiday use only) with associated access, hard and soft landscaping, drainage and engineering works"

Sam will put the letter on the Notice Board for people to look at but the full documents are available to view online (or at Sam's house) and the application number is 14/03238/STPLF. Comments must be received by the council no later than 22 December.

Village Hall committee meeting. 8th November.

As a result of Anne-Marie stepping down from the position of treasurer, Tricia has taken on the roll as acting Treasurer until the AGM and Nigel has taken on the roll of acting Chair until the AGM.

The committee would appreciate some new blood and fresh ideas. Please talk to Nigel or anyone on the committee if you are interested in helping.

Committee members are - Nigel Elliot (acting Chair), Tricia Coole (acting Treasurer), Vicky Kress(secretary), Jennifer Cartwright, Helen Marsden, Jan Rogers, Sally Wilkinson, Phil Cartwright, Brin James and Mike Rogers.

The committee would like to thank Anne-Marie for 'doing the books' for the last 7 years.

Everingham and Harswell Parish Council

Minutes of the meeting held on 19 November 2014

in the Village Hall, Everingham.

1.      Present were Councillors Tom Featherby (Chairman), Marcia Call, Patricia Coole, Rachel Glossop and Bryn James. Clerk to the Council: Anthony Stocking.

2.      Councillors Edward Pettifer and Alison Thompson tendered their apologies for absence.

3.      In attendance, to update Councillors on the progress of the committee objecting to the proposed Everingham Wind Farm, were Chris and Jane Berridge.

4.      The death of Bernard Whatling, a former Chairman of the Council and Councillor, was noted and TF outlined the contribution he had made to Parish whilst a Councillor.

5.      Matters arising:

5.1              Chris Berridge outlined to Councillors the latest information gleaned from correspondence with the developers of the wind farm.

5.2              Councillors were of the opinion that HGVs to Kemps of Seaton Ross will use a number of routes.

Repairs to the road surface and passing places carried out by ERYC along Thorpe le Street Road have been welcomed. Councillors agreed that a potential means of getting positive action to resolve the issue is for residents to complain directly to ERYC. Should the situation worsen then residents can advise the Council accordingly.

5.3              Councillors agreed to have ownership of the village telephone box transferred to the Parish Council and that BT can remove the equipment. The cost of transfer of the recently repainted box will be £1. A subsequent meeting will decide the use of the box and suggestions from residents are welcome.

5.4              Streetscene operatives have not completed the work on their schedule. 

5.5              Councillors decided to request Northern PowerGrid to pass ownership of the redundant power pole to the parish. The new pole will remain.

5.6              Councillors agreed to replace the lamp brackets as recommended by ERYC Lighting Department. The precept will increase for next three years by 15%.

5.7              It was not possible to reach a decision on the purchase of a defibrillator. A report is to be prepared for the January meeting.

6.      Finance:

6.1              The bank balance is £3939.24 and the projected year-end balance is £2472.03.

6.2              The billing figure for Council Tax purposes will increase from £32.53 to £37.41 – provided the ERYC tax base for the parish remains unchanged.

7.      Business:

7.1              AT sought permission to retain her seat even though she will be absent from meetings over a 30-week period. Councillors agreed to grant permission.

7.2              A voluntary event, East Yorkshire Villagers at War, to commemorate soldiers who lost their lives because of World War I is to take place on 20 and 21 March 2015 at North Ferriby Village Hall. The organisers seek experiences and memorabilia and anyone who can help should please contact the Clerk to the Council.

8.      Date of next meeting:

8.1              The next meeting will be in the Village Hall at 19h30 on 14 January 2015. Electors can submit questions, comments or items for discussion at the meeting by contacting the Clerk within 14 days of the meeting.

Rural Sounding Board

The Parish Council has received this email regarding the rural sounding board.

The Rural Sounding Board was established as a way of gathering Councillors opinion on a range of topics.  It has two separate Boards, one for Local Authority Councillors (one per member authority) and one for Parish Councillors (one per Parish Council as part of the Rural Services Community). 

This information will be used to inform our research and enable Councillors to share their views on key issues affecting their local area.

 

The first survey was on The Impact of Austerity Measures on Local Services.

 

The results of this survey were presented at the recent AGM in London on 17th November.

Fireworks

I have had a comment left on the website asking if we could just ask if any one is letting off fireworks other than on bonfire night if they could let their neighbours and those they know who have pets that they will be letting off fireworks on a particular night, as animals can get frightened and distressed by the noise of the fireworks. The person didn't leave their name but just thought I would pass on the reminder.

Bernard Whatling

I would like to thank everyone who attended Bernard’s funeral and all those who took the time to send cards and letters to me and my family. We feel we’ve had a lot of arms around us, helping us through a very difficult time.

I would also like to thank Mike for keeping everything tidy and those who made the church look so beautiful. Thank you all it is appreciated.

From the village.

Sadly Bernard passed away on Sunday, 12th October. He was a familiar figure on his mobility scooter around and about the village, with Polly, his little dog keeping him company on the step. He was born in Thornton and became a builder. Bernard worked for John Layton of Bielby before setting up his own business. He was well known for his woodcraft work, producing everything from pincushion holders made from local wood to copying a farmhouse porch from an old photograph.

The Whatlings moved to Rose Cottage in the late 1970s. Bernard served on the Parish Council for many years and was a mine of local information.

Everybody will miss him and our thoughts are with Diane and family.

Next year Melbourne Community Primary School's drama group (the M&M Club) will be performing Bugsy Malone. The cost to the school is immense what with the licence, costumes and props and so they ask well-wishers if they would like to become a patron or a sponsor of the club. As a patron, following a donation to the drama group, your name will be published in the programme. (If you so wish) Or you might like to become a sponsor of the Club whereby following a donation to Club funds, your company would be advertised in the programme.

Everingham and Harswell Parish Council

Minutes of the meeting held on 10 September 2014 in the Village Hall, Everingham.

1. Present: Councillors Tom Featherby (Chairman); Marcia Call; Patricia Coole; Rachel Glossop; Bryn James; Edward Pettifer; and Alison Thompson.

Clerk to the Council: Anthony Stocking.

2. Councillors agreed the correctness of the 09 July 2014 meeting’s minutes.
3. No Councillor declared a pecuniary or non-pecuniary interest in any agenda item.
4. Matters arising:
1. The committee monitoring progress of the Everingham Wind Farm application has discussed with Councillors the means of maintaining a dialogue so that each party is aware of events. The committee agreed to keep the Council informed of events via the normal channel. No application is yet available. TF emphasised that the Council will discuss the matter when ERYC has issued a formal planning application. Then Councillors will take a decision based on the facts and consider the electorate’s views.
2. TF has learned that the contract to transport some 52000 tonnes of recyclable waste has not gone to Kemps of Seaton Ross. This should reduce the HGV traffic through the village by three movements daily. It is possible that Hargreaves will continue to use the Seaton Ross facility.

AS made a request for local PCSO Cundiff to undertake a further speed survey. His report of the initial survey gave the following information:

“The total amount of traffic that passed through the village as 75 vehicles between 15:30 & 17:00. Total Speed 2102 MPH divided by 75.  Average speed 28.1 MPH. Total number of cars that would have received a speeding ticket  3. The highest speed was 40Mph. 1 in 25 cars found to be speeding this equates to 4 % were speeding. Speed board was used to collate the speeds of vehicles passing through the village, This device is not as accurate as the Pro Laser.”

No discussion took place regarding involving the Community Partnership to reduce HGV traffic through the villages and the matter will be on the agenda of the November meeting.

3. Renovation and painting of the telephone box is complete. The Council recorded appreciation to members of the Thompson family for their work.
4. The telephone box has become available for adoption once again. BT has not finalised the procedure to do so and there is some confusion at BT as to the means of doing so. It appears that should a Parish Council agree to the removal of the equipment then adoption and retention of the box will be a formality. AS has contacted ERYC and awaits confirmation of the procedure.
5. AS will learn of the extent of cover for damage to or claims from incidents concerning the ‘bus shelter.
6. No action has taken place regarding ascertaining the location and direction of culverts in Everingham. However, TF continues to liaise with Rob Brown at ERYC Highways Department
7. One bridge along pathway 8 has received attention but a second requires renovation. RG has contacted Lesley Whitehead.
8. MC will contact Jim McGivern regarding the completion of the work by Streetscene operatives and report to the November meeting.  
9. The redundant power pole on Thorpe le Street Road is still in place. AS requested a response from Northern PowerGrid regarding the unsightly replacement.
10. ERYC Lighting Department has replied to the query about the cost of work on the lamp standards. It is not possible to defer payment outside this fiscal year but a request for assistance can be made to ERYC Finance department.
11. No details of defibrillators at Brandesburton or Melbourne are available from the respective Council clerks. AS has circulated information to Councillors on two sources and the subject will be on the agenda of the November meeting.
3. Emergency Plan:
1. BJ has informed HEPS of the Council’s plan. RG is now the co-ordinator of the Emergency Committee.
4. Finance:
1. AS submitted the up-to-date accounts. MC proposed and PC seconded a motion for their approval. This was given unanimously and they were signed by TF. The balance of £5405.74 agrees with the bank statement.
2. The External Auditor has approved the accounts.
5. Planning:
1. The investigation of the building in the grounds of Elleker House continues.
2. The Everingham Stud is compliant with the terms of its planning approval.
6. Principal correspondence
1. July and August bank statements.
2. Confirmation of receipt of a request for information on the redundant power pole and the installed replacement.
3. Joining a Rural Sounding Board sponsored by Rural Services Network.
4. Market Weighton Community Council minutes and agenda.

Everingham oil club

If you live in the circulation area of this newsletter and would like to be included in the oil club then please email phil.cartwright1@btinternet. You will then receive an email when the next delivery is due. If you require oil at that time then you will be advised of the chosen supplier for that month, you should then make contact directly with the supplier to arrange payment. Our normal delivery months are January, March, May, September & November. From time to time interim deliveries may be arranged, however we suggest that to get the best prices we should try and concentrate on these planned dates.
